The legendary jazz and blues singer passed away on March 16 in Los Angeles. Filmed at the Luckman just one month before her death, we were fortunate to have her here on our stage to create this episode featuring her beautiful renditions of classic American songs, as well as interview clips recounting her illustrious life and prolific career. Named by NPR one of the “50 Greatest Jazz Vocalists,” Barbara displayed her stunning two-and-a-half-octave range and rich, soulful, musical interpretations — as well as her powerful presence that lit up the Luckman.
